Cup Final

Spent yesterday watching the FA Cup Final, the competition which unfortunately Manchester United had been eliminated from by one of the finalists, Liverpool who had also succeeded in defeating Premiership champions Chelsea along the way. Their opponents were West Ham, a relatively small club compared with the likes of Liverpool and definite under-dog going into the final. So it came as quite a surprise when Liverpool found themselves 2-0 down after 30 minutes! I must admit, I was surprised. Liverpool grabbed a goal back before half time and it looked set for a thrilling second half. The 90 minutes ended at 3-3 with Liverpool having just saved themselves with a stunning strike from Steven Gerrard in the 90th minute. Extra time was relatively dull with both sets of players struggling to stay on their feet after such a lively game. So it went to penalties... Not long after, Liverpool were celebrating another cup win but West Ham certainly put up a good fight and I thought they were unfortunate not to win.

Anyway, after the excitement of the football, I went for a walk around Runneymede with the usual lot from Hounslow and Hayes. It was nice to get some fresh air and enjoy the company of the others. There was a slight scare when someone got lost on the return to the carpark, but all ended well and we ended the evening at Dave's house.
