Bank Holiday Again!

Well, another bank holiday weekend, this time followed by a week's half term holiday!!

Friday evening, went ice-skating with the HWEC crew. Was good fun and I was starting to get the hang of it towards the end. Managed to pick up a nasty blister though... must wear extra pair of socks!

Spent Saturday morning attempting to contact my employer for work experience with no success. Realised later that they probably aren't open on a Saturday anyway... Spent the evening round the Lodge's house, which Nigel was looking after in their absence. We watched "The New World", a film based on the Disney production of Pocohontus, set in colonial America. Sounds half decsent but the film itself was s.l..o..w... and only had one real action scene, a fight between the natives and the British settlers.

Sunday evening, with no school to look forward to the following morning, was spent round the Lodge's again, this time singing :)

Monday, another bank holiday! We took a trip to Hyde Park in London to meet up with young people from churches around the area to play games, socialise and chill out, followed up by a pleasant meal at an Italian resturant nearby. A busy weekend by my standards left me quite tired with the satisfaction of knowing there was no school the next day!

Cup Final

Spent yesterday watching the FA Cup Final, the competition which unfortunately Manchester United had been eliminated from by one of the finalists, Liverpool who had also succeeded in defeating Premiership champions Chelsea along the way. Their opponents were West Ham, a relatively small club compared with the likes of Liverpool and definite under-dog going into the final. So it came as quite a surprise when Liverpool found themselves 2-0 down after 30 minutes! I must admit, I was surprised. Liverpool grabbed a goal back before half time and it looked set for a thrilling second half. The 90 minutes ended at 3-3 with Liverpool having just saved themselves with a stunning strike from Steven Gerrard in the 90th minute. Extra time was relatively dull with both sets of players struggling to stay on their feet after such a lively game. So it went to penalties... Not long after, Liverpool were celebrating another cup win but West Ham certainly put up a good fight and I thought they were unfortunate not to win.

Anyway, after the excitement of the football, I went for a walk around Runneymede with the usual lot from Hounslow and Hayes. It was nice to get some fresh air and enjoy the company of the others. There was a slight scare when someone got lost on the return to the carpark, but all ended well and we ended the evening at Dave's house.

Wednesday!

Ah Wednesday. Wednesdays are great for me as far as school is concerned. I have easy lessons and we get to finish at 1pm. Don't ask why, think it's meant to be study leave or something for years 10 and above.

Today, I was in danger of losing my free afternoon, having picked up a detention yesterday. Fortunately, she let me off when I handed it in and I spent an hour playing football with some mates in the local park instead.

Looks like summer's finally here too as I disocvered, walking home in the blistering heat. Apparently tommorow's gonna be even hotter!

Bank Holiday

Well today was bank holiday. I went with my mum, my sister and some friends to Oxford, the home of Oxford University. We walked around the shops for a bit, before taking a detour along the canal.

We stopped for lunch at Pizza Hut before setting off again, taking pictures of the various colleges along the way. A nice way to spend a day and the sun was shining as well.

Now I need to finish off some coursework and homework in time for school tomorrow :(
